Telkom University Strengthens Global Collaboration through IEEE OETIC 2025
Telkom University Purwokerto once again strengthened its international academic collaboration through the organization of the IEEE Ocean Engineering Technology and Innovation Conference (OETIC) 2025, held on Tuesday, 16 December 2025. The conference was conducted in a hybrid format and hosted at Telkom University Purwokerto, Indonesia. OETIC 2025 was organized by Telkom University Purwokerto in collaboration with Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya and supported by the IEEE Indonesia Section. This conference is recognized as one of IEEE Indonesia’s flagship international conferences under the Ocean Engineering Section (OES). The conference was led by Dr. Anggun Fitrian Isnawati, S.T., M.Eng., a researcher at the Center of Excellence (COE) Sustainable Cities, Villages, and Food Security (COE SIVIFO).
OETIC 2025 served as a prestigious scientific forum that encouraged in-depth discussions on innovative approaches in ocean engineering as well as coastal and marine technologies. Carrying the theme “Enhancing Oceanic Technology & Scientific Knowledge and Coastal & Marine Engineering to Strengthen Society’s Relationship with the Ocean,” the conference emphasized the importance of advancing technology, scientific knowledge, and marine engineering to address current global challenges.
The conference focused on the application of engineering principles in the marine sector, extending beyond purely environmental or traditional marine studies. OETIC 2025 provided a strategic platform for academics, researchers, and industry practitioners to exchange ideas and present as well as publish research findings in the field of ocean engineering.
IEEE OETIC 2025 International Seminar
The OETIC 2025 program was divided into two main sessions, beginning with an international seminar featuring prominent keynote speakers, including Prof. David R. Fuhrman, Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Prof. Yuzhu Pearl Li, Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and Hari Vishnu, Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (NUS). The keynote speakers presented current perspectives on coastal dynamics, marine technology, and underwater acoustic research.
Scientific Discussions and Awards
Following the keynote sessions, the conference continued with parallel sessions that served as forums for scientific presentations and discussions of 25 selected papers. These papers were categorized into two main scopes: Coastal and Marine Hazards, Environment, and Sustainability with 10 papers, and Underwater Engineering, Vehicles, and Acoustic Technology with 15 papers.
As a form of appreciation for research excellence and scientific communication skills, OETIC 2025 also presented the Best Paper and Best Presenter awards. The Best Paper award emphasized the quality and scientific contribution of the research, while the Best Presenter award focused on the clarity and effectiveness of research presentation.
Expectations of OETIC 2025
Through OETIC 2025, Telkom University aims to expand its international network and encourage collaborative research and community engagement in the marine sector. The conference reaffirms the university’s commitment to supporting international research development, marine technology innovation, and meaningful academic contributions to sustainable development in the maritime and coastal sectors. OETIC 2025 is also expected to generate tangible implementations of marine engineering research that contribute to environmental sustainability and strengthen society’s relationship with the ocean.
