Introduction to Jembatan Karir
Jembatan Karir is a digital innovation developed as part of the Invillage social project by PT Telkom Indonesia. The platform was created with the aim of empowering people with disabilities by providing access to employment opportunities and ensuring digital inclusivity. What began as a simple training initiative at Sentra Wiyata Guna Bandung and Desa Bojongsoang has evolved into a platform that bridges the gap between job seekers with disabilities and potential employers.
Features of Jembatan Karir
The platform offers unique features designed specifically for people with disabilities. One of the core elements is the freelance marketplace, allowing individuals to offer services and connect with employers directly. Another key feature is the accessibility toolkit, which includes options such as enlarged text, high-contrast modes, monochrome display, screen reader compatibility, and cursor highlighting. These features ensure that individuals with low vision, partial blindness, or other disabilities can navigate the platform with ease.
Jembatan Karir also provides dual functionality, enabling users to register either as job seekers or as employers. This flexibility helps expand opportunities for collaboration and employment across different sectors, while also addressing the gap in inclusive hiring practices in Indonesia.
Implementation of Jembatan Karir
Pilot projects have already been carried out in Sentra Wiyata Guna Bandung and Desa Bojongsoang, involving communities of people with disabilities including low vision, visually impaired, and physical disabilities. Initial feedback has shown strong demand for accessible job platforms, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable development and partnerships to maintain and scale the platform.
The Future of Jembatan Karir
The long-term vision of Jembatan Karir is to foster inclusive employment ecosystems by connecting communities with disabilities to industries and organizations that comply with inclusive hiring regulations. While the platform is still in its early development phase, it has the potential to become a nationwide model for accessible employment solutions. Collaboration with disability organizations, government, and private sector employers will be key in achieving this mission.
